Variations in culture medium cause morphological and chemical changes in a sediment-derived fungus from Monterey Bay .

 Isolated fungal strain 049105A was cultured at 21°C for 3 weeks in Malt Extract Broth made with seawater (M) or deionized water (Mi) and CzaPEK-Dox Extract Broth made with seawater (Z) or deionized water (Zi).  All media pH 7.4 ± 0.2.  Preliminary data indicates potent cytotoxicity in extracts from M and Mi.
