Nanoscale Functional Materials and Opto-Electronics
The Chen group is interested in novel functional nanomaterials and their opto-electronic properties, with the goal of exploring their potential applications in nanoelectronics, chemical/biological sensing, fuel cells, and photovoltaics. A wide array of experimental tools are being used by Chen and his students, including electrochemistry, spectroscopies (NMR, UV-Vis-NIR, FTIR, and fluorescence), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)/thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), electron microscopies (SEM, and TEM), and scanning probe microscopies (AFM, and STM).
